Successful Sugar Production in Ethiopia OMO3 Cane Sugar Factory Edit Date：2018/10/26

       On 14th Oct, 2018, local time in the morning, a Completion & Production Ceremony for Ethiopia OMO-KURAZ3 12000TCD Cane Sugar Factory, which is designed by GDE, invested by Ethiopia Sugar Corporation (ESC) with loan from China Development Bank (CDB) Qinghai Branch, and contracted by COMPLANT, was held. Dr. Abiy Ahmed, Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Isaias Afeworki, Prime Minister of Eritrea, Mr. Endawek Abite, CEO of ESC, and delegates of CDB and other important honored guests attended the ceremony and made passionate speech. Dr. Abiy Ahmed and leaders of ESC highly applauded the project in aspect of construction speed, design and works quality and admired that OMO3 is a sugar factory with the highest automatic level, fastest construction and commissioning in Ethiopia so far.
       OMO3 sugar factory, with capacity 12000 ton cane daily and 2x30MW power plant, is one of the 4 big factories, completely designed by GDE, in Ethiopia. It produces raw sugar, white sugar and refined sugar, which is a comprehensive sugar factory, rare in Ethiopia. Various product lines, which are self-adjustable, adapt the local and international market demand to maximize the economic effect.
       On 20th Oct, 2018, local time, full white sugar production line, such as process line, power plant and other systems of OMO3 factory were put in operation. What was exciting was that the initial operation was managed to produce qualified class white sugar.
       Dating back to the process of OMO3 construction, the Basic Design was approved in Apr, 2016; in the same month, commencement happened in April with design representatives on site; in Dec 2017, qualified water of chemical water station was made and water and power were available for the whole factory; in March 2018, raw sugar house and refinery was completed; and in Sep 2018, synchronization and power generation was accomplished in the power plant. Within only 2 and half years, a mature and modern sugar factory has been formed from remote grassland. This demonstrated again the credible design level of GDE with efficient management of COMPLANT and effort of the Employer. “Chinese speed” and “Chinese quality” are highly admired by Ethiopian! Ethiopia is not only the preceded country of China-Africa Production Cooperation, but also one of the “One Belt, One Road (OBOR)” countries which have most early achievements. The completion and production achievement of OMO3 project are not only another international great achievement of GDE, but also extend sugar market influence of GDE and social influence of OBOR.
       The achievement of OMO3 validates that GDE BIM design platform is advanced, fully professional and periodic and is the latest development direction of engineering industry.
